Emergency Assistance

 
Red Cross relief services are provided to minimize the immediate, disaster-caused suffering of people affected by a disaster through the provision of food, clothing, shelter, and medical, nursing and mental health assistance. Based on the culture, economy and geography of the affected region and the scope of the disaster relief operation, the Red Cross will determine the most effective service delivery strategies for meeting client needs.

Mass care assistance. Assistance provided through any combination of three integrated elements: (1) individual or congregate temporary shelters (Client, Staff, Emergency Workers); (2) fixed or mobile feeding operations (snacks, meals, drinks) and (3) distribution of relief supplies (Rakes, Shovels, Tarps, etc)


Individual assistance. Assistance provided on an individual or family basis through the purchase of necessary items and/or services or referrals to agencies and organizations that offer assistance at no charge to disaster victims. Assistance is also provided by reunifying separated family members within a disaster area and processing welfare information requests. Items distributed include; Comfort Kits (Adult & Child), Blankets, Stuffed Animals, Clean Up Kits (Flood & Fire).
